Ginger milk tea, or Adrak Chai, is a delicious drink that is both soothing and healing. It is considered a staple in India during the winter and monsoon months because it’s believed to be able to relieve cold and flu symptoms. Ginger tea is typically made with milk, fresh or dried ginger, black tea, and spices, which create a slightly spicy, sweet, and creamy drink.Check out other ways to boost your immune system here
Rather than using fresh or dried ginger, we’ve used our aged black ginger powder in this recipe. Our aged black ginger is grown and aged in Japan and is one of the best sources of Shogaol. Shogaol is a compound naturally found in ginger that is thought to improve circulation and reduce inflammation. Because of the high amount of Shogaol in our aged black ginger, you may notice a very pleasant warming sensation throughout your whole body. This is Shogaol at work!

How to make Ginger Milk Tea
Making ginger milk tea only requires about five minutes and a few simple ingredients. First, simmer the spices and get ready for your house to smell AMAZING. Ground cardamom is an easy ingredient to find in most grocery stores, but you may have to look a bit harder to find whole cardamom pods. Not to fear, though; there are plenty of options online. If you can’t find whole cardamom pods, use about ½ tsp of ground cardamom instead.
Next, add the aged black ginger powder and black tea. You can use black tea bags or loose-leaf tea. Whatever you have on hand and enjoy the taste of! You’ll want to let this simmer for a few minutes so the flavors can marry. Cook over a medium heat and avoid a rapid boil. You just need a gentle simmer.
Lastly, add milk and sugar and let simmer for a few more minutes. You can use plain table sugar or experiment with using honey or maple syrup if you enjoy the taste. Note that you can always add more sweetener and spices if you desire. For a dairy-free option, try almond, soy, or cashew milk.
Strain the mixture into mugs and enjoy your delicious Adrak Chai!
