How often is your matcha lab tested?
Our key matchas are tested by independent labs on a regular schedule, and each certificate carries the date it was tested.
Who does the testing?
Independent third-party labs. Each of our matcha lab test results traces back to the lab’s own report number, listed in the footnotes under the full panel.
Is your matcha screened for radiation?
Yes. We screen for cesium-134, cesium-137 and iodine-131, the isotopes associated with the 2011 Fukushima accident. None has been detected in our published results.
What is Prop 65?
California's Proposition 65 sets some of the strictest daily limits for lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic. We test our matcha against those daily limits, based on an average daily serving.
How much caffeine is in a serving?
Our tested matcha contains about 37.5 mg of caffeine per gram, so a 1 g serving (about half a teaspoon) has roughly 37 mg. It varies a little by grade and by how much you use.
