The Matcha.com Latte ChawanDesigned for how matcha is actually enjoyed today. Our Latte Chawan is a spouted ceramic bowl made specifically for matcha lattes. It’s designed to whisk smoothly, pour cleanly, and fit seamlessly into your daily ritual. A functional evolution of the traditional chawan, adapted for milk-based matcha without losing its roots.
Each piece is handmade in New York by Judy Suh, founder of Jay Ceramics. Judy is a Korean Japanese ceramic artist and small business owner whose work draws from Japanese tea traditions while embracing modern, everyday use. Together, we designed this piece to honor the spirit of the chawan while meeting the needs of today’s latte drinkers.
Design detailsMountain LandscapeCrafted from dark stoneware clay, this chawan reflects the mountainous landscapes surrounding Japan’s tea fields. Layered glazes evoke early morning fog rolling through the mountains.
Matcha Field RowsThis porcelain chawan features carved lines inspired by the hedged rows of matcha fields. A celadon glaze settles into each groove, echoing the ground from which tea is grown.
Why you’ll love it— Built for lattes. The shaped spout allows for smooth, controlled pouring into cups and glasses.— Handmade and one of a kind. Each chawan is individually crafted, so no two pieces are exactly alike.— Tradition, reimagined. Inspired by Japanese tea culture and adapted for modern matcha rituals.
Care & maintenanceDishwasher safe, though hand washing is recommended to help maximize longevity. Microwave safe, with care taken to avoid thermal shock, such as placing the bowl directly from the refrigerator into the microwave.
