Our take
This survey is such a fun way to compare human habits and personality traits! While the sample size is very small (2,000 people) it does seem to corroborate some of the scientific differences between matcha and coffee.
We know that the l-theanine in matcha lets you experience the alertness of caffeine without the jitters and feelings of anxiety that you can get from coffee. Knowing that it makes sense that matcha drinkers are more extroverted, quicker to get up and get ready in the morning, and feel excited to start their day with a workout.
Matcha also has a slower release of caffeine than coffee, so it can help you feel alert for longer, improve your cognitive function, and help you focus. It adds up that matcha drinkers read more books than coffee drinkers and like to stay up on social trends.
The bottom line
What this poll did not address, is the health advantages of matcha over coffee. While both coffee and matcha contain healthy antioxidants, matcha is packed full of anti-inflammatories, antioxidants, vitamins, and immune-boosting nutrients. Coffee may jump-start your day and make you feel awake, but matcha has the added benefits of improving your overall health, helping you avoid and fight cancer, improving the way your brain works, helping you age better, and more!
