What is fermented turmeric, and why do we love it?

Turmeric, particularly its active compound curcumin, has enormous health benefits. This root has been well studied for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity and has been shown in studies to help improve brain function and heart health and possibly reduce cancer cell growth and metastasis. However, while turmeric is widely beneficial, our ability to absorb its beneficial properties is pretty low.

Fermented turmeric undergoes a special process that allows it to dissolve instantly, provides higher levels of key health-boosting compounds, and makes it much more bioavailable. It also has increased levels of antioxidants and curcumin.

Using fermented turmeric in your lattes is a delicious and easy way to boost your health!

Why choose a caffeine-free latte

Switching out your caffeinated beverages for a cozy, caffeine-free latte like this can offer a gentler way to warm up and wind down. While caffeine does have its benefits (particularly when paired with l-theanine, like found in matcha), it can sometimes contribute to heightened feelings of anxiety, stress, or sleeplessness. A caffeine-free drink, especially one made with calming spices like turmeric and cardamom, can help balance your day and help you relax at night.

Ingredients:

½ tsp fermented turmeric powder

¼ tsp cardamom

½ cup hot water

1 tsp honey

½ cup milk of choice

Directions:

  1. Combine turmeric powder and cardamom in a cup. Add ½ cup of water and stir until combined.
  2. Combine milk and honey in a microwavable safe cup. Microwave in 30-second intervals until hot. With an electric frother, froth well.
  3. Pour milk over turmeric mixture.

Enjoy!
