A simple twist on a classic drink. This matcha Arnold Palmer only takes a few minutes to make and so is delicious and refreshing. A classic Arnold Palmer is typically made with one part black tea and one part lemonade, but we’ve swapped black tea for matcha green tea with fantastic results. This matcha lemonade mix is a touch tart and a touch sweet and makes for the perfect summer drink.
While we may never know exactly how this drink was named, we do know it’s delicious- especially with the addition of a high-quality matcha green tea powder. Legend says, however, that it’s named after the professional golf player Arnold Palmer, who would order this combination at his golf club. One day, a woman overheard what he was ordering and said, “I’ll have that Arnold Palmer drink.” And the rest, as they say, is history.
The best part of making a matcha Arnold Palmer at home is that it’s so easily customizable. If you’d prefer to make your own lemonade, be our guest! You can also buy your favorite store-bought lemonade for an easy and quick option. Feel free to sweeten to your preference as well. You can also muddle blueberries or strawberries for a fun twist! Turn this into a cocktail with the addition of vodka, whiskey, or even rum.
This is so easy we can hardly call it a recipe! A matcha Arnold Palmer is made with one part matcha and one part lemonade. But feel free to switch up those ratios depending on your own taste preferences! Our preference is a higher matcha ratio to lemonade, but you do you.
Ingredients:
1 tsp matcha tea powder
⅔ cup cold water
⅔ cup lemonade
Directions:
- Sift matcha into a glass, top with cold water and with an electric frother, mix well. If you don’t have an electric frother, you can also shake vigorously in a jar. Add lemonade.
- Fill cup with ice.
Enjoy!
What type of matcha should you use?
We recommend using our original ceremonial-grade matcha tea powder in this recipe, but really your go-to matcha powder would work. Stay away from culinary-grade matcha for this drink. Our mango matcha powder would also add a fresh twist.
Grab your favorite glass, some lemonade, matcha, and say hello to your new favorite summer drink!
