Organic Japanese Black Tea - Benifūki Cultivar Wakōcha
This Japanese black tea was developed in the late 1900s by crossing Japanese Green Tea with the Camellia Assamica cultivar, which is better known as the variety producing Assam Black Teas.
This black tea produces a reddish infusion with a full body and fruity notes of apples and plum. "Wakōcha" comes from the literal meaning of "Japanese Black Tea;" this is a purely grown, organic black tea which has been harvested under the greatest care to produce an energizing effect – wonderful for the morning or mid-day. Enjoyable without sweetener.

What makes our Matcha Best
It was pleasing to see growing awareness of matcha in America, but we were dismayed by the low qualities available when visiting cafés, tea shops, and restaurants. So, on our following trips to Japan, we purchased small tins of the quality tea to bring home, along with tea bowls, scoops, and whisks. Soon we were in the habit of drinking a bowl of matcha twice a day! Turning loved ones onto it, and leading a growing audience into giving it a try.
Alright, I'm trying this matcha thing.
The Excellence of Uji-Matcha®
Our matcha is of exceptional quality, grown entirely on the pristine hillsides of Uji, Kyoto, where Japanese matcha originated one thousand years ago. Matcha from Uji is prized as the finest in the world. We are proud to be the only bulk source in the Americas offering 100% true, traditional Uji-matcha®.
What Makes our Matcha Best?
Our matcha is primarily produced from tea leaves grown in the region of Japan known as Uji, Kyoto. Through an exclusive relationship with our tea-farm (Japan's oldest and most authentic), we're able to share the most exquisite matcha that Japan has to offer – grown on the purest, most carefully maintained land. And each year, the tea-master specially blends the best leaves into the matcha we enjoy today. Since most of this quality of matcha stays for enjoyment within Japan, we're honored to have the chance to share it with you.
