During these hot summer months, we crave refreshing drinks to cool down with, and we’re always looking for unique ways to incorporate more matcha. Ice matcha is always an option, but lately, we’ve been having fun adding matcha to smoothies! This coconut mango matcha smoothie is the perfect way to add a little pick-me-up to your day with a heavy dose of antioxidants and other helpful nutrients.  

The best part? It’s ridiculously easy to make. 

What you’ll need to make 

Mango Matcha Powder: You might not think that mango and matcha go together, but wow, do they ever. Our unique mango matcha powder is perfectly balanced with the umami flavor of matcha and the subtle yet robust natural sweetness of real mangos. It’s fruity without being overpowering. You can also use your favorite traditional matcha powder if you’d prefer.  

Frozen Mango: We prefer using frozen mango, which helps thicken the smoothie and keeps it cold and refreshing. If you’d like to use fresh mango, be our guest! You may just want to add some ice. 

Frozen Banana: Banana adds a touch of sweetness. 

Coconut Milk: If you’re not a coconut fan, feel free to swap this out for almond milk or even regular milk. Note that this coconut milk differs from the typical canned coconut milk you’d find in the center aisles. 

Sweetener of Choice: This is entirely optional, but we liked our smoothie best with a touch of honey or maple syrup! Sweeten to your taste preferences. 

Ingredients: 

  • 2 tsp mango matcha powder
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 small frozen banana 
  • 1 cup coconut milk 
  • Optional: sweeten with honey or maple syrup to taste 

1 Step Directions: Add everything to a blender and blend until smooth. 

Variations

  • Add protein powder or a scoop of Greek yogurt for a more complete meal 
  • Add a handful of kale or spinach for some extra nutrients
  • Swap out coconut milk for almond milk or regular milk if you’re not a fan of coconut 
  • Add flax or chia seeds for extra fiber and omega-3 
  • Use ½ cup frozen mango and ½ cup frozen pineapple for a more tropical smoothie
