Cherry blossom vanilla matcha latte

Cherry blossom syrup

Sakura ( cherry blossom) has become a popular seasonal flavor, often found in cookies, ice cream, cakes, and drinks. Even Starbucks releases a limited-edition Sakura Frappuccino each spring. However, this homemade sakura matcha latte is infinitely tastier (not that we’re biased).

You’ll need cherry blossom syrup for this recipe, which you can find online or in specialty stores. When buying, look for syrups made with real cherry blossoms rather than artificial flavors for the most authentic and rich flavor.

Homemade cherry blossom syrup recipe:

Want to make your own? It’s actually easier than you may think! Especially if you have access to fresh cherry blossoms.

  1. Simmer 1 cup of fresh cherry blossoms, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup of water in a saucepan over low heat.

  2. Stir until sugar fully dissolves, then let mixture steep for 10-15 minutes.

  3. Strain out the blossom

How to achieve the perfect layered look

How do you layer drinks?

One of the things we love about this latte is how beautiful it is! The soft pink cherry blossom syrup layered under milk and vibrant green matcha is visually stunning… a great way to” wow” company. For the best layering effect:

  • Fill your glass completely with ice before adding the rest of the ingredients.

  • Pour the cherry blossom syrup in first, followed by the milk.

  • Whisk the matcha separately and slowly pour it over the ice, letting it cascade down gently for a gradient effect.

Layering drinks can take a bit of practice to master fully, but it can be a fun skill to play around with. And even if your layers aren’t quite perfect, your latte will still taste amazing!

What is vanilla matcha?

Vanilla matcha powder

Our vanilla matcha powder is carefully handcrafted with the essence of real vanilla- no extracts, sweeteners, or artificial flavors- just pure, high-quality organic ceremonial matcha powder made with the essence of real vanilla.

Don’t have vanilla matcha? Feel free to add a ½ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract when making your regular matcha for a similar flavor.

Ingredients:

1 tsp vanilla matcha powder

¼ cup warm water

3 tablespoons cherry blossom syrup

2/3 cups milk

Directions:

  1. Make your vanilla matcha: Sift 1 tsp vanilla matcha powder into matcha bowl and add warm water. Using a bamboo whisk (chasen), whisk in a zig-zag motion until frothy.

  2. In a glass, add ice and cherry blossom syrup, then milk. Top with vanilla matcha.

Enjoy!
