This classic vanilla matcha latte is simple, easy to make, and delicious. Made with simple ingredients you likely already have on hand– no artificial vanilla syrup needed. Matcha and vanilla are comforting and cozy and feel indulgent. Our vanilla matcha powder provides a nice little energy boost without the jitters that come with coffee. This latte is the perfect mid-morning or afternoon pick-me-up.
You can easily make this recipe plant-based by opting for almond or oat milk. If you’re craving something cold to cool you off, simply swap hot water for cold water, skip heating up your milk, and top with ice. We love that matcha is so customizable and can be switched up to match your mood.
Using pure vanilla extract (not imitation) is essential in this recipe. Skip the artificial vanilla syrups and stick with the real stuff!
What is matcha?
Matcha is a type of green tea that has been ground into a very fine powder. Tea leaves are shaded for the last few weeks before being harvested, which increases their chlorophyll and antioxidant content. Our vanilla matcha powder is made with the real essence of vanilla bean and works perfectly for this recipe. The vanilla essence is a rich compliment to the umami-packed matcha powder.
Here’s how to make an at-home vanilla matcha latte:
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons vanilla matcha powder
1 cup milk of choice
1/2 cup hot water (175-180℉)
½ tsp vanilla extract
Brown sugar to taste
Optional: Top with whipped cream.
Directions:
- Sift matcha into a cup and top with water. Whisk until matcha is incorporated, and there are no more clumps.
- In a separate cup, mix brown sugar, vanilla, and milk. Microwave milk for 30-60 seconds until warm. Froth well. Pour the frothed milk over the matcha. Enjoy!
