Why add matcha green tea to your frosé

Matcha is known for its calming, energizing properties thanks to L-theanine and a gentle dose of caffeine. Adding it to frosé brings a subtle earthy balance to the fruity rosé, making each sip refreshing and tones down the sweetness.

What are matcha tea bags?

Matcha.com. Matcha Tea-Bag Set. Accessories.

While traditional matcha is finely ground into a powder and then whisked into water, matcha tea bags are made with whole-leaf tencha tea leaves and (the same tea leaves that are used for traditional matcha) allow for an easy steeping experience- making them super convenient. They still contain the same flavor, antioxidants, and health benefits as matcha, but without the extra prep. Our whole-leaf matcha tea bags are made with plant fibers and are completely plastic-free.

What you’ll need:

Rosé wine: A dry, full-bodied rosé is best for freezing. Some of the color will be lost when frozen, so try to find a dark colored rosé if possible.

Whole leaf matcha green tea bags: Our organic, whole-leaf matcha tea bags are one-of-a-kind tea bags created from Japan’s finest shade-grown, whole-leaf matcha known as tencha. These bags are plant-based and completely plastic-free. If you don’t have access to matcha tea bags, you can use green tea bags or a teaspoon of matcha powder instead.

Lemon juice: If you can, use fresh-squeezed lemon juice for the freshest flavor.

Sweetener: Honey, brown sugar, and simple syrup all work well.

Frozen strawberries: This is optional, but adds extra color, flavor, and sweetness.

How to make green tea frosé:

  1. Steep the tea: Combine rosé and matcha green tea bags in a jar or bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours to allow the flavors to infuse.

  2. Freeze: Remove the tea bags and pour the infused wine into ice cube trays. Freeze overnight or until solid.

  3. Blend: Add the frozen rosé cubes to a blender along with lemon juice, sweetener, and strawberries. Blend until smooth and slushy.

  4. Serve: Pour into a chilled glass, garnish with a lemon slice or fresh berries, and enjoy your delicious summer cocktail!
