What We Love About This Recipe

Wine spritzers are a classic. A matcha white wine spritzer elevates the classic cocktail just slightly, giving it a fun and earthy twist. Matcha tea powder's bright green hue also makes it beautiful. There are only three main ingredients: sparkling water, white wine, and matcha, making this the ultimate lazy girl drink. If you want to be a little extra, you can also add some muddled fruit or a squeeze of lemon juice.

Ingredients & Ways to Switch Things Up

What goes in a white wine spritzer?

White wine: Your favorite white wine will work. But we prefer a sauvignon blanc or wines with green or herbal tasting notes as these tend to pair better with the matcha.

Sparkling water: Stay away from soda water as that contains sugar. Just regular, plain, sparkling water is what you want here.

Matcha: Opt for a higher quality tea powder such as our original ceremonial grade matcha.

Optional Add Ons:

-   Mint

-   Lemon slices

-   Orange slices

-   Muddled blackberry

-   Muddled blueberry

-   Muddled strawberry

Matcha cocktails

Ingredients:

1 bottle of white wine

2 cups sparkling water

2 teaspoons matcha powder

Directions:

  1. Combine white wine and sifted matcha. Add in sparkling water and serve over crushed ice.

Tips and Tricks:

-   You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a nice bottle of white wine. Even an inexpensive bottle will be delicious!

  - It is worth using a higher-quality matcha tea powder. Culinary matcha, for example, will be too bitter. Look for a bright green tea powder that has a delicious grassy flavor with a strong umami taste. Lower-quality matcha will often be dull brownish green and have an unpleasant bitter flavor.

-   Make sure both the wine and sparkling water are chilled.

-   Sift your matcha before adding it to your cocktail. Clumps of matcha aren’t the vibe here!

-   Feel free to add more or less matcha powder based on your personal preferences.
