With just a few minutes of prep, you can treat yourself and others (if you’re willing to share), to a delicious, homemade matcha drink. There’s something about the combination of strawberries and matcha that feels decadent without being overly indulgent.

How to make strawberry matcha smashed iced tea:

This recipe is easy to make and only requires a few minutes of prep work. While it tastes and looks decadent, it requires minimal effort. Our kind of recipe!

Start by roughly chopping your strawberries. You’ll be blending these later, so there's no need to spend too much time here. If you don’t have an immersion blender, chop your strawberries finer.

Next, add strawberries to a glass and top with a bit of cold water. Using an immersion blender, you’ll blend the strawberries to your preference. You can fully puree them until you have more of a strawberry syrup or keep them in small chunks. You decide what you like best!

Add your sifted matcha powder, more cold water, and your sweetener of choice. With an electric frother, mix thoroughly, top with ice, and you’ve got yourself the perfect smashed matcha iced tea!

Tips:

For a sweeter tea: Adjust the amount of maple syrup to your taste. You can also use honey or table sugar as a substitute. Alternatively, feel free to omit a sweetener entirely.

Make ahead: You can prepare the strawberry mixture and matcha separately and store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, just combine and add ice.

Variations: Add a splash of lemonade for a tangy twist, use sparkling water instead of regular water for a fizzy version, or add a sprig of mint to make this even more refreshing.

This strawberry matcha smashed ice tea is best made with a high-quality matcha green tea powder to ensure a bright, vibrant color and rich flavor. We recommend opting for a ceremonial-grade powder such as our Original Ceremonial Grade Matcha or Daily Ritual Ceremonial Matcha. You can also experiment with using one of our flavored matcha powders- we think our mango matcha powder would be delicious in this iced tea recipe!

Fresh, ripe strawberries will provide the best taste and natural sweetness. however, you can also use frozen strawberries if desired. Just be sure to thaw before using.
