How to make whipped coconut cream
To get the rich and creamy consistency of a maple cream latte without the dairy, we use coconut cream. If you’ve never used coconut cream as a substitute for heavy whipping cream don’t worry– it’s easy. The key is choosing the right kind as not all cans of coconut cream will work. Look for brands with just coconut and water if possible (no added emulsifiers). Added emulsifiers can sometimes prevent proper separation.
To get the right texture, it’s important to chill the coconut cream before using it it. Place the can of coconut cream or full-fat coconut milk in the fridge overnight. Without tipping or shaking the can, remove it from the fridge and scoop out the thickened cream, leaving the liquid behind.
You can also chill the mixing bowl before whipping, which can help keep the coconut cream fluffy and light.
Once ready, whip the coconut cream with an electric mixer for about 30 seconds. Store in the fridge for up to 1-2 weeks.
What is vanilla matcha powder?
Our signature flavored ceremonial blends are made with just two ingredients—matcha and a hint of natural vanilla, chocolate, or mango. There are no fillers, extracts, or other weird ingredients. We think the vanilla powder is delicious in this recipe, but our chocolate matcha powder would also work well!
Ingredients:
1 tsp vanilla matcha powder
3/4 cup hot water
1/4 cup non-dairy milk
1/2 cup coconut cream
1/4 tsp Vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp Maple syrup
Sea salt
Directions:
- Chill coconut cream over night in the fridge. When cold, scrape the top, thickened cream into a bowl, leaving the liquid behind. Add maple syrup and vanilla extract and beat for 30-seconds with an electric mixer.
- Sift vanilla matcha powder into a cup. Top with hot water and froth well. Heat 1/4 cup of non-dairy milk and froth. Add to your cup of matcha.
- Top with coconut cream and sea salt.
Enjoy!
