Recipe: Easy Matcha Latte with Zombie Marshmallow Topping & Chocolate Drizzle

Recipe: Easy Matcha Latte with Zombie Marshmallow Topping & Chocolate Drizzle

It’s fall season, and we’re sipping on our go-to cozy drink with a spooky spin: a warm matcha latte with some toasted 'zombie' marshmallows and chocolate drizzle on top!

Nowadays, a matcha latte is pretty synonymous with Starbucks. It’s all over social media, with people trying all sorts of different Starbucks matcha lattes. And as good and sweet as they taste, they taste like a candied beverage because of how much added sugar they contain

By creating your own matcha latte at home, you can control all the varying ingredients—from the matcha to the milk to the sweetener—to get the perfect balance of a satisfyingly sweet but healthy beverage.

How to make a matcha latte — elevated with extra fluff and chocolate

In this recipe, we take the classic matcha latte and make it a bit more fluffy, decadent, and fun using marshmallows and dark chocolate.

But it’s not as simple as stacking the marshmallows on top of the matcha latte – we need to decorate them then torch ‘em down! We have a quick little recipe design trick that’ll make your matcha latte ritual more fun than ever before. All you have to do is melt some dark chocolate, grab a toothpick, and draw some delicious chocolate lines and little faces on the tiny marshmallows. We like to give it a little spooky spin by making them zombies.

Once the marshmallows have got their chocolate topping, you can carefully stack ‘em on top of your matcha latte. The final—and maybe most important part—of the process is torching the marshmallows. This way the marshmallows get their harsh burn for decoration, and you get this soft, sweet and caramelized marshmallow that’ll pair so well with a warm cup of matcha latte.

This recipe is as easy as they come, and as fun as you make it to be! So let’s get started, shall we?
