You’ll just need a bit of patience to freeze and set it, and then you’ll be rewarded with the best part of the recipe: breaking the bark into pieces!
Do matcha and chocolate go together?
In this recipe, we went ahead and made it vegan by using dairy-free white chocolate. But if you'd like, you can definitely swap for regular white chocolate instead. Make with caution, however... this treat is addicting!
Like we said, matcha and chocolate are a match(a) made in heaven! The umami earthy flavor of the matcha pairs so well with the deep and rich flavor of the chocolate. Combining them into a dish just makes sense.
If you’re more inclined to use milk or dark chocolate in this recipe, it’ll elevate the flavor profile of the matcha bark. Just to note though, it will change the appearance and won’t look as vibrantly green as when it’s mixed with white chocolate. But it will taste just as good—maybe even better.

Using Organic Culinary Grade Matcha is highly recommended in this recipe in order to get a stronger and deeper flavor out of the high quality matcha. And maybe experiment further and try it out with our well-loved Organic Hojicha Powder.
Hojicha is a roasted form of matcha powder. It has a natural sweetness and rustic aroma to it as compared to matcha’s earthy flavors. Using hojicha powder in this recipe will give it a slightly nuttier and deeper flavor—still pairing well with chocolate.
